The Holidays

There have been lots of goings on here at the house. We're having a dinner party Christmas Eve with both Joe's family and mine, which should be interesting. We spent all yesterday moving around boxes and furniture in preparation - there is still much cleaning to be done, though. We also picked up a new dresser that Em kindly gave us. It's beautiful! Like something out of Beauty and the Beast. Our house is finally starting to look more like a home.

I've been working on a few knitting projects. The punk kitty hat is almost done, I just need to add the mohawk. I'm working on a hat for Joe, and I just finished my first earflap hat, made for Mark.

I really wish I had a digital camera, even if it's just a decent point and shoot. My camera phone just doesn't cut it for me.

Punk Kitty Hat Part I: The Ears

I made up the pattern for these all by myself. ^_^

CO 12
1. P across
2. K1, K2tog, K to last 3, K2tog, K1
Repeat 1 and 2 until 4 sts left on needle
Break yarn and pull through remaining sts

I used size 10 needles for the white and size 6 for the pink to make them more ear-like. Then I just whip stitched them together with the white loose ends.

Pretty simple. =]

Aviator Cap

This hat took a fair chunk of time and has set me back a bit on my laundry list of things to knit before Christmas. I had fallen in love with the color of this yarn though, as well as the pattern, so I decided it was time to make something for myself at last. It's a much truer purple than it is in the photo.

Pattern.

I just finished part one of two for my sisters Christmas present and I'm currently working on a purple beanie for a friends daughter. Ahead of me I have a striped beanie and gloves for Joe, an earflap hat for Mark, a beanie for my brother, another striped beanie for Scabs, and I need to come up with something to make for my parents and Chelsae. All before Christmas! Whew.

We went to Tempe Yarn and Fiber on Saturday. It's a pretty cool place. The fancy crochet hook Joe bought from them broke though. There were a bunch of crazy old ladies there, having a needlework party. They liked my hat. We might go back again this weekend.

Joe learned to crochet! He's doing really well and has finished two adorable amigurumi dolls so far. He also made the grey flower on my hat!

Creative goals: mohawk hat and kitty ears.

Blacklight Mass

I work for an artist, Shayne, who hosts the Sunday Blacklight Mass at Rasputin's Manor (a goth/industrial night held at a local party mansion). So I spend my Sunday nights selling brilliant artwork printed on fashion accessories and looking at beautiful women. I tend to get a lot of knitting done as well, since I'm tied to the booth for most of the night. Someday I will own a digital camera and will be able take quality pictures of the event, but for now I just have a few mobile photos taken from my seat.

Our sexy mannequin.
And artsy pics of my legs.

Photo 1 Assignments

So far we've completed four assignments in my Photo 1 class. Our fifth and final project is in the works - The Portrait. I've actually been putting thought into this one and I'm excited to see the end result. In the meantime, I've scanned the others for your viewing pleasure.

Project 1: The Cutting Edge (Composition)

Project 2: Depth of Field

Project 3: Motion

Project 4: Light

The Following are left over prints that I didn't turn in.

My First Three Hats

I used the pattern Knit Hat (for anyone!) by Kathy North for all three. I'm in the process of making my fourth hat, brown again, but I've graduated to circular needles - which are amazing! Due to ease and avidity, I think I can finish my current project in six hours. It took me at least ten hours for each of these.

Blue hat for Michael.

Pink hat for Michael.

Brown hat for Don.

Next I'll be making a striped hat for Joe and a purple hat for a friend's daughter. Then.. maybe I can make something for myself. :)
